Bill Notz, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Statistics, has received the American Statistical Associations Founders Award. The award was given for Bill's "outstanding section leadership, including serving as chair of the Physical and Engineering Sciences Section and Section on Statistical Education and as vice chair of the Council of Sections Governing Board; for outstanding publications leadership, including service as editor of Technometrics and the Journal of Statistics Education (JSE); and for leadership in statistics education as a member of the ASA/MAA Joint Committee on Undergraduate Statistics, as chair and as executive committee member of the Statistics Education Section, as editor of JSE, and for his financial support of the Best JSE Paper Award."

Laura Kubatko, professor in the Department of Statistics with a joint appointment in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology, was named co-director of the Mathematical Biosciences Institute (MBI), effective July 1, 2019. She joins current co-director Janet Best.
Steven MacEachern, Professor and Chair in the Department of Statistics, has been named 2019 Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Statistics. The Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professorship honors a select few of full professors who have excelled in teaching, service and research and creative activity, and whose work has demonstrated significant impact on their fields, students, college and university, and/or the public.

Dionne Swift, a former OSU Statistics PhD in 2000, is chairing the Committee on Minorities in Statistics (CoMiS). This committee seeks to foster participation in statistics by historically under-represented minorities.
