Title

Statistics at Procter & Gamble

Speaker

Dr. Dionne Swift, Procter & Gamble

Abstract

Procter & Gamble Company is a world leader in the research, development, manufacture, and marketing of a wide variety of pharmaceutical and consumer products. Hence, a career in statistics at P&G offers endless statistical and scientific challenges. This talk will introduce the Biometrics and Statistical Sciences group and will outline some of the more interesting work that we have done in genomics, proteomics, and consumer research. Specifically, I will demonstrate use of image plots (heat maps) for display of multivariate data, and how we use them for gene expression studies. Additionally, I will present our investigation into the data requirements for definitive protein identification by MALDI mass spectrometry using protein sequence database search simulations and statistical analyses. Also, ongoing collaboration work concerning the analysis of paired comparison data with Professors Verducci and Fligner will be briefly presented.

Meet the speaker in Room 212 Cockins Hall at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
