Resources

The university provides a variety of resources across campus to support our students in their academic pursuits, career development and overall well-being. Below is a general overview of the types of resources available and links for additional information. If you're not sure where to go for assistance, questions can be directed to the department's graduate program coordinator who can help to make appropriate referrals if necessary.

Department of Statistics

In the Department of Statistics, each graduate student has a faculty advisor who can advise on academic and professional development concerns. Dr. Xinyi Xu, the department's graduate studies chair, also serves as a resource for all students enrolled in the statistics graduate programs. See the People section of our website for a complete list of faculty and staff in the department.

Graduate School

The Graduate School sets the policies to which all Ohio State graduate students must adhere. See the Graduate School handbook for a complete list of policies. The Graduate School website also contains information regarding theses/dissertations, graduate associateships, academic standards, course credit, graduation requirements and links to many of the university resources that are specific to graduate students. See the Graduate School website for more on career development, research resources, and social, wellness and student life.

Professional Development

Students at Ohio State have access to career services and professional development opportunities hosted by a variety of offices from across the university. From individual consultations through the Career Counseling and Support Services, to the online jobs and internships portal Buckeye Careers Network, events and activities hosted by the Grad/Prof Ohio Union Activities Board, the services through our Alumni Association and many other offices across campus, we encourage students to take advantage of the multitude of resources available.

Throughout the year, a number of companies visit our department to hold information sessions and host interviews for the students in our programs. We encourage students to attend to learn more about potential careers even if you are not currently seeking a position. The Department of Statistics also has a LinkedIn page where we post job opportunities for our students and alumni. Students are encouraged to join the LinkedIn group to develop their professional profiles, to network with our community, and to view job and internship opportunities.
