Columbia GROW Program
GROW 2025 will run all day Friday September 26 and Saturday September 27 at Columbia University.
The GROW conference is intended to provide support and encouragement to undergraduate students considering going to graduate school in the mathematical sciences and to help build a profession in which gender and sex are not barriers to participation. The conference runs annually, and is open to all undergraduates from U.S. colleges and universities, including international students. Students of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races, nationalities and religions are encouraged to apply to GROW and these characteristics will not be used in determining funding or participation decisions.
GROW began at Northwestern University in 2015, and ran there for three successive years. It has been hosted at different institutions yearly since then. For previous instances of GROW, see this link.

Hertz Fellowship
The Hertz Fellowship empowers the nation's most promising doctoral students in applied science, engineering and mathematics. Hertz Fellows receive up to five years of funding-offering flexibility from the traditional constraints of graduate training and the independence needed to innovate-and lifelong professional support. In addition, Hertz Fellows join a multigenerational, intellectual community of peers, providing a unique engine for professional growth and collaboration. Fulbright Program
Are you a senior and wondering what to do after graduation? Would you like to spend a year abroad? Consider applying for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in one of nearly 140 countries! Competitive ETA applicants come from all majors, so whether you’re studying economics, soil science, journalism, education, or something else entirely, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
The Undergraduate Fellowship Office (UFO) is offering a fast-track application process to complete a full Fulbright ETA application over the course of 5 weeks. Starting September 2, UFO staff will guide applicants through a series of steps that will enable them to submit their applications by the national deadline on October 7.
The Fulbright Fast-Track Process will include:
- Week of Sept 2: A required meeting with UFO staff
- Week of Sept 8: Writing workshops for application essays: Statement of Grant Purpose and Short Answers
- By Sept 18: A draft of the Statement of Grant Purpose due to UFO
- By Sept. 28: A draft of the Short Answers due to UFO
- Week of Sept. 29: Application endorsement meetings with UFO staff
- By Oct. 2: Full draft of the application due to UFO
- Oct. 7, 5 pm: National application due in the application portal
To participate in this process, please complete this Intent to Apply form by August 27. UFO staff will be in touch to share resources and to schedule a meeting during the first week of September.

Princeton Fellowships
Are you interested in spending time abroad after you graduate? Are you passionate about cultural exchange? Do you want to work for an impactful organization? Consider applying to Princeton in Africa, Princeton in Asia, and Princeton in Latin America fellowships!
Princeton in Africa, Princeton in Asia, and Princeton in Latin America fellowships fund 6-month to 2-year immersive work placements at host organizations in these three regions of the world.
Seniors and recent alumni from any major are eligible to apply and both domestic and international students are eligible. Fellows contribute to work in diverse sectors with placements in organizations that focus on arts and culture, economic development, education, environmental sustainability, peace and justice, public health, sports, or STEM. The fellowships aim to bridge cultures through mutual understanding and person to person diplomacy and to mobilize young people to effect positive social change.
On Friday, September 5 at 11 am via Zoom, the Undergraduate Fellowship Office is holding an information session for the Princeton in Africa, Princeton in Asia, and Princeton in Latin America fellowships. The session will include discussion of the objectives of the award, eligibility requirements, and application processes. Participants will also engage in guided brainstorming processes to generate content for their application essays. OSU alumnae who are currently abroad on “Princeton in…” fellowships will share their experiences.
Students, faculty, and staff interested in learning more about the Princeton in Africa, Princeton in Asia, and Princeton in Latin America Fellowships are welcome to attend. Registration for the event is required.

Summer 2025 Opportunities
Are you a STEM student interested in summer research opportunities? Are you excited to do research at nationally and internationally renowned universities? Consider applying for summer research fellowships this year!
Join the Undergraduate Fellowship Office for an information session on Summer STEM Research Fellowships for Undergraduates.
The info session will highlight:
- DAAD-RISE which funds summer STEM research experiences at Germany ‘s top research institutions for second and third years from US, Canadian, and UK universities. (No German language required.)
- Amgen Scholars which funds summer research opportunities in the U.S. for second, and third-year undergraduates in biological, chemical or medical sciences.
- National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF REUs) which fund a wide variety of summer STEM research projects at U.S. institutions or international locations. Opportunities are available for STEM undergraduates who will still be enrolled in undergraduate coursework through Fall 2025.
- Mayo Clinic’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) which funds experiences for second and third-year undergrads wanting to build skills as young scientists in biology and medical fields.

Rhodes Scholarships
Each year the Rhodes Trust selects 32 outstanding scholars for 2-3 years of fully funded, post-graduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The aim of the Rhodes Scholarship is to gather young leaders from around the world to pursue education together and build mutual understanding to create a better world. Marshall Scholarships
Each year, up to 50 exceptional students are awarded the Marshall Scholarship, providing them the opportunity to study for 1-3 years at any university in the United Kingdom.
