The Department of Statistics Sadly Announces that Emeritus Professor Ramesh Srivastava Passed Away August 30

The Department of Statistics is sad to announce that Emeritus Professor Ramesh Srivastava passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012. The Srivastava family provided the following information:

Ramesh C. Srivastava, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born March 21, 1935, in a mud hut in the small village of Mirpur located in India. Ramesh is preceded in death by his parents, Bansi Dhar and Kokila Srivastava. He is survived by devoted wife, Tejesh Srivastava; son, Vish Srivastava of Salt Lake City; son, Krish Srivastava of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Vini and Matt Misicka of Hilliard; daughter and son-in-law, Renu and Tom Pannett of Hilliard; and grandchildren Elina, Vanessa, Zachary, Kovid, Marissa and Monica. Ramesh received a PhD in Statistics from Michigan State. He was Professor Emeritus of Statistics at The Ohio State University having taught there for 27 years. Through his dedication to education he has positively impacted many people throughout his wonderful life, putting multiple family members through college. He enjoyed playing bridge and poker and spending time with family and friends. Ramesh was a member of the Bharatiya Hindu Temple in Powell. The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Rutherford Funeral Home, 450 W. Olentangy St., (Powell Road/State Route #750) Powell, Ohio 43065. Family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a foundation near and dear to Ramesh’s heart that aims to help eradicate illiteracy in rural India.
