Grace Wahba, Emerita Professor of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Ohio State in the spring commencement. She is best known for spline modeling and kernel methods widely used in machine learning. Her monograph Spline Models for Observational Data is based on a series of 10 lectures that she delivered at Ohio State in March 1987.
