Nicholas Mandarano Awarded the Graduate Associate Teaching Award

Nicholas Mandarano, Biostatistics PhD Student

Congratulations to Nicholas Mandarano on receiving the Graduate Associate Teaching Award. The GATA is Ohio State’s highest recognition of exceptional teaching provided by a graduate student. To Nicholas, this award motivates him to keep working on being a better teacher and reminds him of how fortunate he is to teach students who are dedicated, engaged, and curious. Recipients of GATA receive a one-time award of $2,000 and are recognized at the Annual Graduate School Awards Ceremony.

Nicholas currently teaches two lectures of STAT 1430 and says that his favorite part of teaching is having the opportunity to meet students with different backgrounds, interests, and talents. Teaching has shown Nicholas how he can learn from his students and how he can help grow students’ confidence both in and outside the classroom. Nicholas is currently a 4th year Biostatistics PhD student, and his current projects revolve around survival analysis and epidemiology.

Congratulations Nicholas Mandarano!
