The February 2020 issue of the American Statistical Association's (ASA) Amstat News celebrates the contributions of black/African-American statisticians to the field of statistics as part of Black History month.  The issue features 17 African-American statisticians who have made exceptional contributions to the field.  Among these 17 successful statisticians are Ohio State graduates Dr. Tommy Wright and Dr. Brian Millen.  Dr. Wright, who obtained his Ph.D. in 1977, heads the Center for Statistical Research and Methodology at the United States Census Bureau, while Dr. Millen, who obtained his Ph.D. in 2001, is a Senior Director in Eli Lilly and Company's Global Statistical Sciences Department.  Both men have led impactful professional lives, making striking contributions to the field.  They have also contributed to the rapid growth of the statistics profession by mentoring numerous early career mathematical statisticians.
