Oksana Chkrebtii, assistant professor of statistics, is the Co-PI on a new grant from NASA with her collaborator at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington to study the dynamics of surface salinity in the ocean at resolutions finer than those of satellite observations, and its relationship to precipitation. This project is titled: “Subfootprint Variance and Surface Salinity Extreme Values as Indicators of Air-Sea Interaction”.
