Omer Ozturk Invited to Serve as a “Summer at Census” Scholar

Department of Statistics

Statistics professor Omer Ozturk was invited to the U.S. Census Bureau on June 15-16 to serve as a "Summer at Census" Scholar. The "Summer at Census" Scholar Program draws recognized scholars in statistics, survey methodology, demography, economics, geography, social and behavioral sciences, computer science, or closely related areas for short-term visits, primarily during the summer. The scholars present a seminar based on their research and engage in collaborative research with Census Bureau researchers and staff on problems in the areas of data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. Professor Ozturk presented a seminar at the Center for Statistical Research and Methodology on “Estimation of mean and total of a finite population using conditional inclusion probabilities given the population rank.” During his visit he also engaged in collaborative research with Census Bureau researchers and staff on the topic of ranking and sampling.
