Statistics PhD student Jae Ho Chang has received a Best Student Poster Award from the American Statistical Association Georgia Chapter in recognition of his research presentation, “Personalized Federated Learning via Nonparametric Empirical Bayes,” at the 11th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics held in Atlanta.
The award highlights Chang’s innovative contributions to the growing field of federated learning, an area of machine learning focused on developing data-driven models while preserving privacy across distributed data sources. The project was co-authored with Arnab Auddy and Subhadeep Paul of the Department of Statistics, whose mentorship and collaboration contributed to the success of the work. This recognition reflects both the high quality of Chang's research and the department’s continued leadership in advancing statistical and data science methodologies.
Congratulations to Jae Ho Chang on this outstanding achievement!
