Statistics faculty Arnab Auddy to present at ASC AI Summit

Arnab Auddy

Statistics faculty member Arnab Auddy has been invited by the College of Arts and Sciences to present his research at the college's AI summit. Arnab will talk about his work on "Adaptive Intelligence: Bridging Population Differences While Protecting Privacy". The talk is scheduled in a session showcasing faculty work across the college for advancing AI between 9:00 -9:45 AM. Arnab's work is partially supported by an Exploration Grant jointly from the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at the College and the Department of Statistics.

The abstract of his talk is as follows: AI must adapt to practical challenges such as population heterogeneity, and respect ethical concerns such as data privacy. This arises for example, if hospitals from different continents collaborate on building a disease prediction model based on sensitive patient data. I will discuss a new statistical method that addresses these issues while transferring key predictive components across populations, showing the benefits of collaborative learning.
