Please join us in welcoming Lecturer Stephen Colegate to the Department of Statistics
Stephen Colegate is excited to join the Department of Statistics for the Spring 2026 term. Stephen most recently was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. His research is concentrated on cystic fibrosis, pediatric asthma, precision medicine, and air pollution modeling. He has shared his research work at the 2024 American College of Epidemiology (ACE) Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, and received 1stPoster Prize on his work “Integrating a Machine Learning Algorithm to Forecast Daily Asthma Hospitalizations,” integrating time-series models to model emergency room admissions for pediatric asthma patients.
Stephen earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2022 and earned his M.S. in Statistics at Miami University in 2016. He has previously taught mathematics and statistics classes at Xavier University, Miami University, and at UC Blue Ash. He has also tutored introductory mathematics, statistics, and physics to students at Miami University Hamilton, and interned at Kroger Technology in Blue Ash, Ohio. Stephen is a life-long resident of Ohio and is passionate about the Ohio State Buckeyes! In his free time, Stephen enjoys hiking, bicycle riding, spending time outdoors, and going on adventures. He makes a concerted effort to play (amateur) disc golf at least once a week.
