  • PhD, The Ohio State University (2009)

My research interests center on distance learning, statistics education and various higher education affairs. I have contributed to the efforts to strategically expand the online offerings in the mathematical sciences. My recent scholarly activities have centered on matters of equity for historically underserved populations — ranging from women in STEM fields to transfer student success.

Jonathan Baker joined the statistics faculty in 2013 after almost two decades of employment as faculty member or chair at his previous institution. He serves as course coordinator for STAT 1450 (Introduction to the Practice of Statistics) and is also the department's transfer credit coordinator. He enjoys working with part-time lecturers on instructional matters and serves as a resource for graduate students as well. Jonathan is an Advocate per the University’s Advocates & Allies for Gender Diversity program. He serves as a faculty mentor to football student-athletes and members of the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation and Young Scholars Program for College Success. Dr. Baker is also a proud alumnus of this department.
