Steven MacEachern, Professor and Chair in the Department of Statistics, has been named 2019 Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Statistics. The Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professorship honors a select few of full professors who have excelled in teaching, service and research and creative activity, and whose work has demonstrated significant impact on their fields, students, college and university, and/or the public.

Dionne Swift, a former OSU Statistics PhD in 2000, is chairing the Committee on Minorities in Statistics (CoMiS). This committee seeks to foster participation in statistics by historically under-represented minorities.

Peter Craigmile, professor in the Department of Statistics, has received the university’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, which annually recognizes up to 10 faculty members for their teaching excellence.
Abhijoy Saha, PhD Student in Statistics, received the Hannan Graduate Student Travel Award from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He will use this award to travel to Oxford, UK to present his work at the Conference on Bayesian Nonparametrics.
